Weill Greenberg Center of Weill Cornell Medical College
New York, New York
300,000 square feet
Projected Completion: 2007

The new Weill Greenberg Center on York Avenue and 70th Street in New York City constitutes the first step in what is envisioned as a state-of-the-art new campus for this prestigious medical school. In addition to housing the most advanced clinical facilities for departments such as Dermatology, Hypertension, ENT, IVF and Cardiology, the 15-story, 300,000 gsf structure will provide a central medical conference center and physician training in its Clinical Skills and Teaching Center. The ground floor lobby is served by a convenient vehicle drop-off to facilitate patient arrival and departure. From the lobby, escalators ascend to the Patient Welcome and Resource Center. Conceived as a diaphanous skin, the white ceramic fritted glass curtainwall is cut into long vertical facets. These gently sloped vertical surfaces reflect the gothic motif of the original New York Hospital campus across York Avenue, while its luminous veil suggests a new direction for healthcare: elegant, inviting and refined.
