Inventors Hall of Fame This museum and research center serves as a gateway to the University of Akron and as the nucleus for the rebirth of the City's downtown. The design, whose sail-like stainless steel arc expresses the infinity of creative thinking as applied to advanced technology, combines progressive images with the satisfaction of the complex programmatic requirements of a building type without precedent. Distinct volumes are arranged on an elevated landscaped plaza, below which is a 30,000 square foot hall of science. The arc defines a wall, whose five tiers carry exhibits celebrating the U.S. Patent System. A four-story support building contains a gallery, offices, laboratories, classrooms, the Inventors Resource Center, a gift shop and café. Awards
