WGBH Public Broadcasting Station Headquarters
Brighton, Massachusetts
290,000 square feet
projected completion: 2006

This new headquarters for a local public television and radio broadcaster and producer of nationally-distributed programming will bring an institution previously housed in twelve separate buildings together in a two-building complex.  An existing 150,000 gsf speculative office building will be completed with interiors to house staff and administration, while a new 130,000 gsf technical operation center will be designed to house TV production studios, radio stations, and screening rooms. The new facility affords the opportunity for this dynamic institution to create an architecture that is emblematic of its core ideals—communicating these ideals internally to its diverse staff, externally to the city of Boston, and to the nation as a whole.  Situated on a highly visible stretch of urban highway, the project will create a lasting icon that will engage the more than one million vehicles that pass each week.  The project scope includes comprehensive programming, site analysis, and extensive engagement with local regulatory agencies and community groups.
