The Santa Fe Opera Theater Culminating the architects' ten-year involvement
with the Opera, the design for this open-air theater delicately balances
concerns for the preservation of operagoers' memories with the requirement
that the thirty-year-old facility be replaced with a technically-sophisticated
and enlarged opera hall. The new theater, whose principal feature is the
profile created by the structure of its suspended steel rib and cable
stay roof, provides greater shelter and comfort for patrons and performers,
improves access for the disabled, creates a more efficient working environment
for artists and administrators and enhances the relationship of the complex
to its magnificent natural setting. Publications
